Mike Jones

Editorial Director

 

Mike Jones began his career at Bloomsbury Publishing in 1994 where he helped to set up the Bloomsbury Paperbacks list. He became a commissioning editor in his own right in 1998 and over the next 10 years commissioned and edited both fiction and non-fiction, working with authors such as George Saunders, Tobias Wolff, Douglas Coupland, Magnus Mills, David Winner, Patti Smith, Peter Biskind, Paul Morley, Julian Cope and Heston Blumenthal.

 

In 2008 he took up the position of Editorial Director at Simon & Schuster UK, eventually becoming Publishing Director of the non-fiction list. During a hugely successful period for that list he worked with authors such as Gordon Brown, Jeremy Bowen, Monty Don, Julie Summers, Ranulph Fiennes and Ferdinand Mount. He published memoirs from Brian Moore, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dannii Minogue and Peter Hook, as well as literary and historical fiction from writers such as Lloyd Shepherd, Nicholson Baker and Jeremy Duns.

 

In his most recent role as Publishing Director of Profile Books commissions includeed a history of 20th century poetry by John Burnside, Fiona Sampson's new biography of Mary Shelley, and books on business, music and psychology.

 

Mike has a very broad range of publishing experience and interests, from history, science, current affairs, religion and politics to pop culture, music and sport. He lives in Colchester with his family.

Colin Midson

Communications and events Director

 

Colin started his career at Bloomsbury Publishing in 1998 working as a publicist. Over the following eleven years he represented award-winning literary novelists such as William Boyd, John Irving, Nadine Gordimer, Khaled Hosseini, Douglas Coupland and Jeffrey Eugenides. His non-fiction authors have included David Kynaston, A.C. Grayling, Hunter S. Thompson, William Goldman, Heston Blumenthal, Nancy Cartwright, Buzz Aldrin and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.

 

In 2010 he joined Simon & Schuster as an editor on the non-fiction list, commissioning books from Jeremy Vine to Billy Idol, as well as the CWA Gold Dagger Award-winning The Killer of Little Shepherds by Douglas Starr, and Tom Fort's bestselling travel book, The A303, Highway to the Sun .

 

He launched Bookshaped in 2012 and has since worked with a wide range of authors and publishers. He represented Eleanor Catton for the publication of her second novel, The Luminaries, which won the MAN Booker prize in 2013 and with Gloria Steinem on the UK tour of her memoir My Life on the Road. Until 2019 he was Creative Director of the Port Eliot Festival, a multi-arts festival held in South East Cornwall each July. He programmed the literary line-up of more than 150 authors and oversaw stages dedicated to poetry, food and drink, craft, and outdoor activities.  He lives on the Lizard Peninsula with his wife and daughter.

Jeremy Wang-Iverson

US Publicity Associate 

 

Jeremy has worked in publishing for over a decade in a variety of roles, including publicity positions at Granta Magazine, Bloomsbury Publishing, Oxford University Press, and Rutgers University Press.  

 

His specialty is working with non-fiction authors and helping them adapt complex topics, ideas and arguments for a wider audience. At each company, Jeremy organized successful events in New York City and around the country, secured major media for books and authors in print, radio and TV, while also establishing an online marketing presence with social media, video and blogs, often working closely with authors to create and maintain their web platforms. He lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
